Rüdesheim Aulhausen, St. Mary's Church Vincenzstift

During the fundamental renovation of the Cistercian convent church from the early 13th century, with subsequent contemporary artistic design, the nave was completely freed of existing fixtures and restored to its original state. Afterwards, elaborate artworks such as stained glass windows, a statue of Christ, floor inlays, an altar table, and a Marian niche were added by 2015.

The lighting concept we developed was intended to be guided by the reduced design language of Cistercian philosophy. The result is a meditative church interior that remains free of luminaires in its clear form. The lighting is solely provided by innovative lighting systems consisting of GON modules installed on the ceiling. The gimbal-mounted GON spheres can be precisely aligned according to spatial requirements and are controlled via a touch panel with pre-set light scenes.

An approximately 55 sqm adjoining room with a trapezoidal floor plan is illuminated by a centrally suspended ring chandelier. Here, too, the GON module was used as the light source. The swivel-mounted module is largely glare-free thanks to a special lens and provides light as needed in the multi-functional space.
