Sustainability and Responsibility
For us, sustainability means, quite concretely, creating value that endures for decades. That is why we develop and manufacture long-lasting, repairable and energy-efficient lighting solutions, designed not for short-term replacement but to retain their value over the long term.
In our production, too, we rely on short distances: we have housings and metal parts made of aluminium and brass produced predominantly by businesses in the region, while the glass comes from glassblowers in Germany and Poland. This keeps transport routes short, and we know the workshops we work with.
Especially in the public and cultural sectors, we support the refurbishment and modernisation of existing lighting installations. These are often listed luminaires whose outward appearance is to be preserved. Through careful modernisation of the interior and conversion to contemporary LED technology, we preserve the design character while reducing the luminaire's energy consumption.
A particular example are luminaires that we developed and manufactured ourselves more than 20 years ago and that we are now restoring and converting to LED technology. This kind of further development saves resources because housings and lampholders are retained and only the technology inside is renewed. As a result, the luminaires' service life is extended by many more years.
Converting from halogen to LED typically reduces power consumption by 80 to 90 percent and extends the lifetime of the light source from around 1,000–2,000 to up to 25,000–50,000 operating hours. For us, sustainability therefore does not mean doing without, but responsible further development and the preservation of existing value.
