Erkelenz, St. Petrus Community Center

The newly built St. Petrus Community Center was designed to take over and centralize the functions of several surrounding churches, offering diverse spaces for community life. Solo pendant luminaires (model P580034) in the church nave emphasize the clean lines of the architecture. When switched off, the Plexiglas rods appear transparent, capturing the play of light from the windows and projecting it into the room.

Ceiling lights from the Solo family would be used for general lighting in the hallway. Focus spotlights create targeted accents in the exhibition area, and thanks to the luminaires' zoom optics, individual objects can be precisely illuminated. The interplay of material and form evident in the center's architecture is reflected in the lighting concept. The combination of glass and metal was considered, and the effect of the material, both when illuminated and unilluminated, was carefully thought out.
