Münster, Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Sacred Heart Church, an interior renovation was carried out. The paintwork and the organ from 1954 were thoroughly refurbished. The lighting also had to be adapted to modern requirements.

The Neo-Gothic nave with its two side aisles and large windows appears as a bright, high space during the day. This lighting effect also had to be achieved with artificial lighting. For this purpose, a lighting concept had to be developed that provided sufficient light for both the high vault and the wide area of the pews. The implementation largely dispenses with conspicuous luminaires in the naves.

The lighting systems specially developed in the stglicht manufactory consist of panels that were suspended in the transverse arches. Equipped with 6 gimbal-mounted individual spotlights with LED technology, all areas of the church can now be evenly illuminated. In addition, accent spotlights on the capitals of the choir and the transept and on the sides of the triumphal arch emphasize the high vault and the triumphal cross as well as the altar area. The side aisles received vault illumination through spotlights on the capitals.
