The Paulus church was rebuilt in the 1960s after being destroyed in World War II and fitted with a wooden ceiling in the interior. Since then, the cable routing for the lighting had not been renewed, as it was permanently installed under the paneling. For safety reasons, the lighting therefore had to be changed.
We then designed a completely new lighting concept, which is based around a large ring chandelier with a diameter of 9 m, filling the entire central church interior. The ring is supported by cross-anchor lights that sit on the metal anchors and illuminate the side areas of the church.
A special detail is the column fragments that remained from the original nave and are now effectively showcased by accent spotlights from the heating shafts in the floor. A modern lighting control system now offers all possibilities to realize the various events of the community, such as the "Lichtspur" (path of light) services with modern music and impulses on faith and life topics.
