Gütersloh, St. Pankratius

The lighting for St. Pankratius Church was carefully designed to accentuate the unique aesthetics and atmosphere of this historic building, while also complementing the modern interior design. General lighting is provided by the tie rods, which support four downlights, and in combination with the opal Altea pendant lights, create uniform illumination of the space and a soft, calming room ambiance.

Accent spotlights were strategically placed to draw focus to sacred objects and emphasize the modern character of the space. To highlight the historically architectural areas, the choir windows were augmented with additional lighting. These targeted accents direct attention to important architectural elements and create a balanced interplay between historic Romanesque and contemporary design.

The church's background, shaped by renovations over the years, is artfully enlivened by the subtle yet effective lighting solution. The subtle motif painting on the rear choir wall and the reinstatement of architectural elements into the painting of past eras are highlighted by the light, bringing out the church's history and character in a stylish manner.
