Schramberg, St. Maria

Following its renovation in the 1990s, St. Mary's Church in Schramberg is a blend of late-classical church architecture and modern art, particularly Erich Häuser's altarpiece. The existing luminaire adapts to this modern interior.

The base of the existing luminaire was classified as worthy of preservation by the monument protection authorities. The luminaire was equipped with six E27 sockets and therefore not bright enough, which is why we planned extended lighting elements. First, we retained the free-emitting elements, but replaced them with COB LEDs and solo room elements. To ensure sufficient basic lighting, we expanded the luminaire with a powerful downlight from the Phase family. In addition, we installed an uplight for separate vault illumination.

The integration of modern LED technology made it possible to adapt the luminaire not only aesthetically but also functionally to today's needs. The powerful downlight ensures uniform illumination of the room, while the color-controllable uplight enables various moods and liturgical scenarios.

Collaboration with the monument authorities, engineering firm Kiefer, and Faiss Elektrotechnik was crucial for the success of this project. Through regular coordination and close cooperation, we were able to ensure that all historical and aesthetic requirements were taken into account.

The end result is a harmonious symbiosis of old and new. The renovated luminaire blends seamlessly into the church's architecture and emphasizes both the historical building fabric and the modern artworks. St. Mary's in Schramberg now shines in a light that highlights both its rich history and its contemporary relevance.
